Health & Safety FAQ

How are ScentSNAP products manufactured?

Our products use essential oils which are sourced through and provided by our partner, Aeroscena®. Aeroscena has pioneered the science of evidence-based aromatherapy for improving human health and wellness. Aeroscena has established a new paradigm in a previously unregulated arena by delivering transparency and quality alongside its evidence-based Ascents® brand aromatherapy formulas. Developing strong, collaborative relationships with partner researchers and institutions has paved the way for important clinical research, including positive outcomes regarding the treatment of pain, nausea, anxiety, and insomnia. Aeroscena’s Ascents products are currently in use in 100s of healthcare facilities, including Children’s National (Washington D.C.); Children’s Hospital (Omaha, NE); Moffitt Cancer Center (Tampa, FL), and Mayo Clinic locations.

Our oils are steam distilled, removing the proteins and rendering them completely non-allergenic. They do not pass the blood-brain barrier, and so can not enter the bloodstream.

What ingredients does each scent possess?

Our Lavender, Eucalyptus & Lemons Scents are all 100% organic essential oils with no other artificial ingredients. We offer certain ‘blends’ such as our Fresh Citrus, which are a blend of several 100% Organic essential oils (in the case of Fresh Citrus, this includes lime, orange, grapefruit and ylang-ylang, for example). All our organic oils are functional oils, in that they are known (as are all organic oils of this type) to alleviate various maladies such as hostility, stress, anxiety, and a wide variety of others.

Because of our dedication to inclusivity, and given that some people are allergic to Essential Oils (and a variety of organic compounds), we also offer a small number of alternative synthetically produced Fragrance Oils (currently, French Vanilla & Bubblegum). These synthetic oils allow those who are allergic to various organic compounds to be able to participate in the experience of fragrance.

Are your Essential Oils FDA approved?

No fragrance of any kind, from any supplier has a blessing from the FDA. The FDA does not regulate essential oils, just like it doesn't regulate herbs or supplements. That means that there is no FDA approval for any essential oil, from any source. Our supplier Aeroscena, does however have FTC (Federal Trade Commission) acceptable claims. This is because of the extensive clinical studies and peer reviews they have conducted. All of our scents meet all IFRAsafety standards.

What is IFRA and how do you work with them?

In 1973 the global fragrance industry came together to form a new international association. Its mission: to represent the collective interests of the industry and promote the safe use and enjoyment of fragrances around the world.

Nearly half a century later, The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) brings together seven multinational companies and 23 national associations in 24 countries across four regions.

Their goal remains to make a difference - in every sense: to create fragrances that bring joy, well-being and color to people's lives; to support prosperity through jobs and scientific advances; and to act responsibly - protecting consumers through their Code of Practice and IFRA Standards, and respecting our shared environment.

What type of studies have been done on Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is quickly becoming one of the easiest types of therapy you can do. Our Oils Supplier, Aeroscena® is at the forefront of, and a leader in the science behind aromatherapy, and leads the industry. Are essential oils safe to inhale?

Essential oils are safe to inhale when used properly. Inhaling essential oils can help to improve your mood, reduce stress, and improve your overall health. Because we use only well-tested and Documented oils in our ScentSNAP products, we are confident in the safety and efficacy of our products.
